Bridge Joint Engineering and the Importance of Routinely Maintenance to Extend Asset Lifecycle

Lendlease Engineering is currently involved in the Brunswick Heads to Yelgun shortly (B2Y) project that\ consists of a dual carriageway highway with semi-integral bridges about 8.6km long. The Small Movement Joints (SMJ) are cheap, easy to build and supposedly low maintenance, however they proved to be extremely difficult to maintain and repair.

In this presentation from Road and Rail 2017, Laszlo Tamas, Maintenance Contracts Manager at Lendlease will reflect on Lendlease’s journey to find a repair method that will achieve its design life, will be financially affordable and will provide good ride quality for the road users.
